Understanding the Calculation Results

Lawptimize analyzes the decision tree entered by the user and calculates a series of metrics that are important for the litigation. They are:

First of all the end node probabilities of the decision tree are calculated. The denote the probability of each of the routes that end in a particular end node. A graph of the probabilities is displayed along with a table of the probabilities and a table of the odds for each end node.

This is the expected amount that is calculated to be won or lost by the litigation. The distribution graph of the gains or losses is displayed and also the expected amount weighed against this graph.

We also analyze the expected possible gain with the probability of gain and the expected possible loss with the probability of loss. Both these numbers will give users the ability to decide their options.

We calculate the expected duration of the litigation and we display a distribution plot of the possible durations for the litigation.

We calculate an weighted average cost for the litigation process. A frequency graph of the litigation cost is displayed along with the average and error on the average.

We present a diagram of the cash necessary in each month during the litigation process. The values on each month are weighted averages. We display the maximum and minimum amounts paid/received in the litigation process. These are data that are essential in the strategy, especially if applied to the opponent, as sometimes the opponent may not be able to cover the litigation costs in particular months - so they are driven to stop the process.

The variational analysis works on each of the nodes of the system and varies the probability parameters entered by the user in order to study how their modification changes the estimated gain of the litigation and the expected cost. This allows users to find sensitive points in the litigation and again assist with their strategy.

The full data can be extracted as a PDF and compared with different strategies.

It is important to remember that as the litigation proceeds the calculations are modified once the actual data is entered in the litigation tree in order to modify the strategy appropriately.
