The Branches

The branches define the special parameters in each of the two decision options (for example a win/loss in a court case). The parameters that are needed for the full benefit of the models are:

ID: Parameter that is automatically given to separate each branch.

Title: A title that denotes what each branch is. This could be for example 'Wing in Appeal' or 'Win in costs'

Probability of Win/Loss: This is the probability estimate of the current branch. It denotes the chanes in percentage points of actualizing this branch subject to the conditions and reasons listed below.

Confidence Level of Probability: How confident are you or your lawyer with this probability.

Estimate Gain/Loss: An estimate of the gains/losses if this particular branch is actualized. This is not the final amount given by the court but gains/losses due to legal costs.

Range of Gain/Loss: An estimate of the range of possible gains/losses.

Confidence Level of Gain/Loss: An estimate of the confidence of this gain/loss.

Psychological Gain: This is a number that is in the range of 1-9 and denotes how 'happy' the client is with this decision.

Predicted Cost: A prediction of the cost that has to be paid for this branch.

Parameter: A free parameter entered by the user

Reasons: In this box the user lists the reasons he believes will lead to this choice. Listing them is essential to calculate the right probability levels.

Actuals: When a court decision has been reached then this section needs to be filled in order to track the process of the trial. By selecting which was branched was actualized the calculations need to be re-done for this selection with the parameters entered by the user.

Win/Loss: A checkbox which selects the branch that was actualized.

Amount Gained/Lost: The amount gained or lost by the choice

Actual Cost: The actual cost of the choice
